Student Defense Statement on Revocation of ACICS Recognition as Accreditor

Today, Student Defense President Aaron Ament released the following statement regarding the Department of Education decision to stop recognizing the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS) as an accreditor.

“Accreditors are supposed to act as trusted overseers of colleges and universities, but ACICS instead chose to be a rubber stamp for many of America’s most predatory for-profit colleges. By terminating ACICS’s recognition, the Department of Education is taking an important step to protect students.”
